Please don’t tell me this is what I think it is. Oil pooling on my 08 Legacy’s driver’s side front, underneath the water pump.

Perhaps a little coolant, too? Slightly green black, though looking at the coolant overflow shows no signs of oil and the oil doesn’t look cloudy (though thin). It’s dripping down the front of the engine onto the cat heat shield.

For reference, I had the headgaskets replaced almost exactly two years and 25,000 miles ago at a local dealer.

Just looks dirty, could be spillover from an oil change. Have you checked the oil to see if it has any coolant in it or any signs of it? How’s the car driving? How does it sound?

It’s hard to tell from the pic, but there’s a pool of oil there that’s way more than what I’d spill when I change the cars oil.

Driving fine, sounds rumbly like normal. STRONG oil smell which it didn’t have until today and drippings of oil on the ground, which is new since last oil change. No apparent coolant in the oil on the dipstick.

Valve cover gaskets? Other gasket on top of the valve cover I think for crankcase breather? Found this image and I’m talking about the red circle that isn’t for the filler tube although that’s another possibility

That’s what a tiny part of my brain thought it was, too. I sure hope that’s all it is.

Hopefully so! I know my mind jumps to something very costly that could be wrong before finding out its just something little that takes no time to fix.

Have you posted anything on http://legacygt.com/ yet? Might be worth a quick search of the forums there. I have an EJ255 and EJ257 and can’t for the life of me think of why oil would pool above the head unless it was split or maybe if you had really bad blow by and no Crack case vent then it could maybe push oil out the dip stick tube.

Oil pressure sensor on top of the cylinder head. On the drivers side it’s near the front and they leak all the time. I’m a Subaru parts guy and I sell them left and right, hope this helps!

So it’s the part with the white electrical connector? It looks like it should just unbolt. You wouldn’t happen to know a part #?

Yes that’s the one. 25240AA060 is the OEM number.
